Why do we debate?

October 8, 2012

Second graders can be inquisitive about current events.  Hearing all the advertisements on television, radio, between family members and knowing of the presidential debates raises lots of questions.  Those questions led to our discussion of “Why is a debate important?”  We learned the following:  all sides should have an equal turn to speak, even if you disagree with someone you can still discuss the issue, and debates help us learn facts to help form our own opinions.
