Creating Writing Using Storybird

January 29, 2013

We spend a lot of time in third grade learning the basics to writing. Learning to include characters, setting, and a plot etc. Learning about a thing called paragraphs, and when you should start and end one. Learning to stay on topic and how to pull your reader in. There is a lot to learn when becoming a good writer. Though we spend a lot of time working with writing prompts and directed writings, it’s nice every once in a while to embrace the purely creative side of a child. Students in Mrs. Marsh’s third grade at Webster did just that. They worked during writing time, free time, and time after school to create short stories www.storybird.com on http://www.storybird.com. Here are a few links to some of their students work.

Please know that these are unedited. I did not assign this project to be about writing conventions. It was more about letting them express their ideas and strengthening their love for writing.
